Easy No-Bake Cherry Delight Dessert Directions

This easy cherry delight dessert is a very forgiving recipe as it is a no-bake dessert. If you find you are slightly short on an ingredient and don’t want to run to the store, you should still have success in making this dessert. When I made this recipe I adapted it to what I have in my kitchen.

About thirty minutes ahead of time, pull out the cream cheese so it can get to room temperature. If it doesn’t feel soft or is cool to the touch, let it sit for another twenty to thirty minutes.

First, Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray or line it with aluminum foil or parchment paper, and set it aside. Lining the pan with aluminum foil will allow you to lift out the bars easily from the pan after it has firmed up making it easier to cut it into little squares, and look much prettier when plating it.

If this is a party dessert and guests will be serving themselves I recommend not using tinfoil on the base of the pan as the dessert will look best served directly from the pan.

Next, you will want to create your graham cracker crumbs by crushing the crackers. If you have a food processor, you will want to use it as it is the quickest and easiest way to crush the graham crackers.

No food processor?

The next best way to crush the graham crackers is to place the crackers into a large gallon-sized ziplock disposable bag. Squeeze out any excess air and zip it shut.

Lay the bag down flat and use the rolling pin to crush all the crackers into a coarse sand-like mixture.

Don’t have a rolling pin?

When I first started baking I didn’t have a rolling pin and would use the base of a cup on the bag, rotating it in little circles to crush the crackers. It will take longer to break down the crackers, but you will achieve the same effect.

Alright, let’s get back to work!

Pour the crackers into a large bowl. Unwrap the butter, cut it into chunks and place them into a small microwavable bowl. Microwave the butter for 10-15 seconds at a time, making sure to check to see if it is melted between each cycle.

Add the melted butter to graham crackers.

Measure sugar and add to graham crackers and butter. Mix well.

Pour the crumb mixture into the9×13 dish, pressing the crumbs into an even layer at the bottom of the dish to form the crust.

In a clean, large bowl mix the cream cheese with a hand mixer or stand mixer until it is smooth and no clumps remain.

Measure the cup confectioners’ sugar and add to the cream cheese. Mix together until incorporated and creamy.

Gently fold in the whipped topping. (You can swap out the whipped topping for dream whip or whipped cream if you prefer.)

Using a large spoon, take the spoon and move the mixture from the bottom of the bowl and lift it to the top in a smooth motion. Do this several times. You want the whipped topping to be incorporated, but not overworked.

Spread the mixture evenly onto the top of the crust, and cover the dish before placing the cherry delight dessert into the fridge to set.

Let cool in the fridge for at least 4 hours, however, 24 hours will be best to give it time to set well.

How to serve this easy no-bake cherry delight?

Use the tinfoil to pull the dessert out of the pan to cut. It is easier to cut and serve while it is cool.

After plating the dessert, open up a can of cherry pie filling and scoop some of thecherry fillingonto the top.

As I mentioned earlier, if this is a party dessert and guests will be serving themselves, you will want to spray the pan with the nonstick cooking spray instead of lining it with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

It will look prettier, and you can put the cherry topping directly onto the top making it ready for guests to help themselves to this delicious easy no-bake cherry cheesecake dessert.

How do you store cherry yum yum?

For best results, cover any leftover cherry desserts with plastic wrap, or in an air-tight container, and store in the refrigerator for up to a few days.

This cherry delight is such an amazing dessert. I know you will love this creamy treat as much as my family!
