Where were you? It’s a question we’ve all asked of somebody. Their absence or tardiness left us feeling abandoned, helpless, confused, and angry. When the one who fails to show up as expected is God, it does more than disappoint. It can knock your faith off the rails. #late #absent #tardy #confused #abandoned #helpless

This is the manuscript of the sermon "Let Freedom Ring" delivered at Christ Church Los Angeles Sunday July 7, 2024.July 4th, Independence Day is a day that celebrates the birth of our nation and the fight for freedom. But we Christians need to also remember another kind of freedom – a freedom far more profound and eternal. The Founding Fathers declared independence from tyranny, a pursuit that resonates deeply in the human spirit. We all yearn to be free from oppression, from the chains that bind us. But the Bible tells us of a different kind of bondage, a captivity to sin that holds us back from true This is where the good news of the Gospel comes in. Jesus Christ, through his sacrifice on the cross, offers us a path to true liberation. By claiming our true freedom in Christ, we not only find personal salvation but also build a stronger, more just, and compassionate community. Here are some ways we can be freedom fighters for Christ:-Share the Gospel: Spread the message of Jesus' sacrifice and the path to salvation with those around you.-Live a Christ-like life: Be an example of God's love and grace through your actions.-Offer help and support: Help those struggling with sin by offering guidance and support.-Pray for others: Pray for those seeking salvation and for the strength to resist temptation.‭Galatians 5:13-15 NIV‬ [13] You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. [14] For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” [15] If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.#liberty #freedom #salvation #faith #compassion #freedominChrist

The Christ Church Los Angeles Wednesday Bible Study Group is studying the book of 1 Peter. The thing that separates Christianity from other religions is grace. It is simply God doing something for you with no strings attached. God’s grace is solely motivated by love: deep, abiding, unconditional, sacrificial love.Peter wrote this letter to Christians who were going through various trials. The apostle knew that a severe “fiery trial” was just around the corner, and he wanted to prepare believers for it. God’s message to us is, “Be hopeful! Suffering leads to glory! God can give you all the grace you need to honor Him when the going gets tough! The future is still as bright as the promises of God, so—be hopeful!1 Peter 3:18-22 NLT‬ [18] Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. [19] So he went and preached to the spirits in prison— [20] those who disobeyed God long ago when God waited patiently while Noah was building his boat. Only eight people were saved from drowning in that terrible flood. [21] And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. [22] Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority. The section presents three different ministries. If we understand these ministries, we will be better able to suffer in the will of God and glorify Christ. ‭Here are the three ministries presented In this section. The Ministry of ChristThe Ministry of NoahThe Ministry of Christians todayLast session we looked at the ministry of Christ, and the ministry of Noah this session we start to look at the ministry of Christians today and how that ministry helps Christians to suffer yet rejoice.

This is the manuscript of the fifth sermon in the "Listening To Heaven's Infallible Teacher" series from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. When we think that certain individuals have their religion on parade, we say they are wearing their halos too tight. When your halo is too tight, all kinds of complications set in. When your hat is too tight, you get a headache. But when your halo is too tight, you give other people a headache. You turn them off and make Christianity distasteful and Christ unattractive. #halo #phony #selfrighteous #selfrighteous

Judgment brings correction, mercy brings connection. God's mercies are new every morning.Lamentations 3:22‭-‬23 ESV The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. So, if you need mercy just ask God for it. His first desire is to pour it out, He will give it every time that you ask, and then you should pass it on. #mercy #judgment

On the fourth of July every year the United States celebrates its Independence Day. The day is a celebration of freedom and liberty from England. Christians in the United States and throughout the world can celebrate everyday as a day of freedom from slavery to sin.Psalm 107, is a song of freedom sung by the redeemed of God. The Psalm was written to be sung by worshipers at the temple in Jerusalem, thanking God for their return from captivity in Babylon. Today this Psalm is for those of us redeemed, by the sacrifice and finished work on the cross of Jesus Christ, from the penalty of sin and death.
