How to Make Chocolate Lava Cake in a Slow Cooker
Aunt Lou here.
Chocolate lovers rejoice! This recipe from Gooseberry Patch’s Slow Cooking All Year ‘Roundis the dessert you have been waiting for! Chocolate Sauce on top of chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream. Need I say more?!
Yum. Oh.My. Yum.
I have never been an oober chocolate lover. While I was pregnant with Ryder, I had some cravings for it…nothing major, but I did want it more than normal. Welp, this Crock Pot Chocolate Lava Cake has converted me to a chocolate lover.
When I put it together, I was sure I was doing it wrong. When I looked at the end product in the crock pot, I knew I had done something wrong. Then I cut into it and pulled a piece out. I literally gasped “Oh my!” when I saw the ooey gooey chocolate sauce on the bottom and then the recipe made perfect sense.
There are quite a few ingredients on this one, but don’t let it scare you away. It is only because you are making a cake from scratch, but it is seriously easy.

Hey Aunt Lou,
Can the lava cake recipe be doubled? I have a six quart crock pot.

Aunt Lou says
Hi Shunti!I haven’t tried doubling this recipe in a larger crock pot, but I think it would work. Be sure and watch it closely the first time you make it so you can adjust the timing as needed with the larger recipe and crock. Let me know how it turns out!

Hi Chris. I never baked anything befoe. I’ve tried to make the chocolate lava cake in my 1.6 quart crockpot. And it didn’t come out like it did in the picture. It came out wet and didn’t brown with the exact ingredients (since I cut them in half). I’ve tried cooking it for 1.5 hours last month and 2 hours today. Any tips?

Hi Kristen!Hmmm…not sure, just want to clarify that a lava cake generally is really wet and sets up to a spoonable consistency even in the middle. Under the cake part is a chocolate sauce, which is still liquid and is your “lava”.
